S

Scientific

SOLD enables transparent, data-driven political debate about the outcomes of policies as predicted by public open-source software models. Hypothesis, modelling, data-gathering, conclusion, and peer review.

O

Open Source

SOLD empowers public Open-Source Software (OSS) communities to drive government reform assisted by Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). AGI increasingly drives governance decisions, but the public controls it.

L

Libertarian

SOLD decentralizes political decision-making and makes the process transparent. The final, utopian stage is an AI leadership bot without individual rulers and their power networks.

D

Democracy

SOLD resolves the communication gap between voters and political actors by presenting predicted outcomes of suggested policies.

Empty promises, overly complicated policies, sketchy ideologies, overhyped saviors, blatant lies, vengeful partisanship, polarizing propaganda, and many other problems of leader-based democracy will be significantly reduced by making political promises testable and policy outcomes predictable.

SOLD combats populism that delivers simple answers to complex problems by removing the need to discuss the complexity of the issues and instead debate predicted outcomes.

It enables voters to make data-driven decisions about their future instead of putting trust or faith, which have been mainly lost, in individual or collective political actors.

Civ Explained

Using modern satellite data, geo-mapped mineral deposits, and other types of real geo-data originating from the SOLD AI simulation software project, Oliver explains the rise and fall of historic civilizations and empires.

Books

From the unique angle of a software engineer, geo-data nerd, and tech entrepreneur with a simulation software for the world's societies in mind, Oliver obsessively consumed books and documentary content about the history of human civilization, geography, and politics for over two decades.

In his publications, Oliver tells the world history starting from maps, models, and data. Refreshing!

Project Plan

A data model to simulate the dynamics of human societies will be incredibly complex. The best way to achieve this is by going in incremental steps from less complex to more complex societies and economies.

As an initial proof-of-concept, we will develop a prehistoric game with some of the simulation engine foundations to test. For the next phases, by then, we aim to build a network with academia and other experts to contribute to the project.

SOLD AI aims to yield interesting results for academia and new challenges for dedicated simulation gamers until 2030. Afterward, we FIX POLITICS. 2026 (MVP, Prehistory): - Very Basic Model - Game - AI Feasibility Study 2028 (Research I, Ancient History) - Very Basic Model - Game - AI Feasibility Study 2030 (Research II, Industrialization): - Model - Academic AI Studies 2032 (Politics I, Modern): - Model - Prediction Agent 2034 (Politics II, Present-day Usage): - Advisory Bot - Adoption by Political Actors - Leadership Bot

FAQs

How to end individual rule over the many?

SOLD sees itself as an iterative improvement to liberal parliamentary democracy. It views critically that in liberal democracies, voters or parliaments elect a single person as an individual ruler into a top office of tremendous power. The attempt to limit that elected individual ruler's power with checks and balances, such as independent media, the legal system, multiple chambers of parliament, federalism, expert commissions, multiple parties, etc, was a step in the right direction. However, with some ill intentions and a strong power base, said individual ruler can pressure or silence judges, journalists, publishers, commissions, political opponents, etc, or replace them with loyalists. This way, they can expand their powers and quell opposition. Such measures are often even welcomed in society, especially during perceived crises or internal turmoil. Liberal democracy is always just one war, one economic crisis, one charismatic populist leader, one oligarchic power grab, or one disinterested generation of voters away from a descent into authoritarian rule. Liberal democracy depends on voters who believe they understand the system and can trust their leaders. Before social media, trust was mainly built through community affiliations (e.g., churches, unions, political parties, local, etc) and personal impressions made on a limited choice of media broadcasting channels that offered a comparatively narrow range of worldviews and were not very critical of the political system. Today, most large offline communities lose membership and fracture. Traditional media's role is diminished. Social Media fills that gap, and its choice of channels and worldviews is infinite. Many smear their government and political system, many smear individual politicians, and many publish disinformation. Furthermore, voters today are bombarded online with commercial advertising, spam messages, and automated digital fraud attempts. They are more sceptical and less receptive to good-faith communication and more used to—and expecting of—bad-faith communication than prior generations of voters. Trust erodes unstoppably. The solution is to make trust unnecessary. SOLD enables voters to make data-driven voting decisions based on concrete outcomes predicted by Open-Source Software (OSS) models and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) suggestions. The quality of competing models can be objectively compared by how well they predict real-world policy outcomes. The model used can be an essential data point for voters when judging how pragmatic or ideological a party is. Voters who want good governance without ideology can vote for the party using the best prediction model and suggest the changes with the best outcome. Once predictive models become a standard tool for internal and voter communication, a pragmatic political party could reduce the role of their presidential candidate to a mere ceremonial steward operating the predictive data model they chose. Individual rule over the many would end.

Is SOLD revolutionary?

No, it does not involve a violent revolution. SOLD does not eliminate the need for political engagement and representation. It is shifting power toward parliaments and away from the whims of executive leaders. It can be consulted as an advisory tool in legislative processes and public debate. In the final, utopian stage, an AI leadership bot suggests optimized pragmatic policies for ratification to the parliament. A president would merely fulfill the role of a steward to the bot. This role definition could be voted into parties’ manifestoes and would not require new legislation. Coalition governments would have to negotiate how their bots’ predictions would be weighted.

Will SOLD end politics?

No. The network of civilian organizations in liberal democracies, including existing political parties, is essential for productive debates about the models and change requests to them. Competing models will arise and will be subject to internal debate. Ideological influence on models will be likely but transparent and publicly debateable. SOLD refocusses political debates on policies and eliminates the highly personified debates about fictional attributes and whitewashed profiles of aspiring individual rulers, as well as the typically painful and divisive act of parties deciding them and falling in line behind them afterward.
